This week we are pleased to feature Delta Jackson.
Canadian singer-songwriter Delta Jackson (formerly Jaclyn Guillou) marked her alternative country debut in April 2018 with a performance in New York that launched her self titled EP, recorded at Real World Studios in England with special guests Ethan Johns (Laura Marling, Ryan Adams, Ray LaMontagne), Jeremy Stacey (Sheryl Crow, The Waterboys), David Catlin-Birch (World Party, Robbie Williams) and Mikael Jorgensen (Wilco). Jackson, already having been previously nominated for a 2016 Juno Award for jazz vocalist of the year with 10 years of touring and recording has rerouted her musical abilities to focus on songwriting, going back to her early country roots.
Growing up in the 90s female singer songwriter movement she was also being introduced to country music and the great classic singer-songwriters of the 60s and 70s (Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, Phoebe Snow, Loretta Lynn, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt) who still inspire her today.
Jackson moved to Kelowna via Europe a year ago and her “home coming” to Canada has
been found in the place of her debut EP and the album that is currently in progress.
Delta Jackson chalks up her new sound to nothing more than the exposure of a multifaceted artist who has been honing her craft for years with a new way to channel her multi instrumentalist nature, finding a full sense of freedom in self expression.
+++ Delta Jackson will be performing unplugged with Nils Loewen at the Marmalade Cat Cafe on Friday December 13th from 5-7pm +++
